‘“When you go out to fight your enemies and you face horses and chariots and an army greater than your own, do not be afraid. The Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, is with you! ‘ Deuteronomy 20:1(NLT)
‘Then the Lord said to Moses, “I have heard the Israelites’ complaints. Now tell them, ‘In the evening you will have meat to eat, and in the morning you will have all the bread you want. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.’”’ Exodus 16:11-12(NLT)
‘The Lord went ahead of them. He guided them during the day with a pillar of cloud, and he provided light at night with a pillar of fire. This allowed them to travel by day or by night. And the Lord did not remove the pillar of cloud or pillar of fire from its place in front of the people.’ Exodus 13:21-22(NLT)
‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.’ Proverbs 3:5-6(NLT)
Proof that God is ever present in every situation and doesn’t let His children go through trying times alone can be seen first in the Old Testament. As the Israelites fled as slaves from Egypt through the wilderness for forty years, God was with them. Not only was He with them, but He also fought for them, guided them, and provided for them.
Our faithful God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He never changes. He will guide you to bring you out of your fearful situation, just as He did for the Israelites. As you read these verses, take courage from God’s promises, and from what God has done in the past. You can be assured of His presence today and always.
God can replace your fears with peace when you fully put your trust in Him and in Him alone. Cry out to Him in prayer, saying, “Dear Lord, I am afraid. I don’t know what will happen during this terrible crisis. Will my loved ones and I be safe? Will I lose everything? I come to You knowing how much I desperately need Your help. My fears are consuming me. Your word reassures me of Your presence. I need Your power to replace my fears with trust in You, Heavenly Father. Because You are with me, I know that I don’t have to be afraid. Thank You, Lord, for setting me free from my fears. Amen.”
