Thinking With God – Day 2

‘The entire city of Jerusalem was in an uproar as he entered. “Who is this?” they asked.’ Matthew 21:10 (NLT)

‘But the Pharisees and teachers of religious law said to themselves, “Who does he think he is? That’s blasphemy! Only God can forgive sins!”’ Luke 5:21 (NLT)

‘The men at the table said among themselves, “Who is this man, that he goes around forgiving sins?”’ Luke 7:49 (NLT)

‘The crowd responded, “We understood from Scripture that the Messiah would live forever. How can you say the Son of Man will die? Just who is this Son of Man, anyway?”’ John 12:34 (NLT)

‘“I beheaded John,” Herod said, “so who is this man about whom I hear such stories?” And he kept trying to see him.’ Luke 9:9 (NLT)

Thinking with God is not about having a lot of theology training. Thinking with God does not spring from being sure we are right. Thinking with God is not about having our religion. Look at these four stories about religious people. The last story is about a powerful political figure. What were they thinking? What was God thinking? Can you think with God about these five situations?
