Love God Greatly: Fear & Anxiety – Day 4

Father to the fatherless, defender of widows— this is God, whose dwelling is holy.’ Psalms 68:5(NLT)

‘Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10(NLT)

There is a reason solitary confinement is one of the more grievous punishments within the penal system. Most people do not want to be alone for an extended amount of time. Loneliness can affect us deeply, causing sadness, pain, and depression.

This fear of loneliness can drive us to gravitate to avenues that cause us more harm than good in our fragile state. No matter where we are inclined to turn, nothing will meet our need and satisfy our soul like our Heavenly Father. We must realize that as believers, we have no reason to experience loneliness because we always have access to God. We never have to fear desertion or abandonment. God is here to heal the lonely and broken hearted, no matter the situation.

Is there a void of loneliness you have tried to fill in your life? God wants to meet you in your loneliness. We can come to Him with our feelings, concerns, and burdens. What have you used to satisfy a longing that only God can fill? Try handing this area over to Him. Watch what He does in your circumstances and your heart as He meets your needs.

Father God, thank You for loving me in the good times and in the hard times. I praise You for Your presence. Give me faith to trust that You are with me, even when I can’t sense You. Forgive me for the times when I look to other things to fill the void. Thank You for Your forgiveness. Amen.
