Love God Greatly: Fear & Anxiety – Day 39

‘Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.’ Philippians 4:9(NLT)

‘But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. ‘ James 1:22-25(NLT)

As we approach the end of our study, we have looked at many key passages of Scripture that discuss how to help us in times of fear and anxiety. We have spent weeks reflecting on God’s Word and proclaiming His promises. If we do not heed His Word, our efforts were in vain. The Bible reminds us of the importance of putting our faith into action. If we only listen to what God says and do not do it, there is no life-change. If we practice what we learn, we experience God’s freedom. We begin to grow in our relationship with Christ and deepen our understanding of His character. We start to experience peace.

Acting on God’s Word takes faith, but the Lord has equipped us to take the first step. He is with us the entire time. He guides the way. What step of faith do you need to take to do the Word of God? You may have feelings of fear to move in faith, but God’s peace will be with you as you take your step, in faith.

Father God, give me the courage to walk in faith and to trust You. Give me Your peace as I trust in You for Your plans. Guard my heart. Help me be more than a hearer of Your Word. Give me the strength I need to take the next step. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
