‘Then I will praise God’s name with singing, and I will honor him with thanksgiving.’ Psalms 69:30(NLT)
‘And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.’ Colossians 3:17(NLT)
‘Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.’ 1 Thessalonians 5:18(NLT)
How do we proclaim words of gratitude during seasons when we simply want to say, “Thanks for nothing” to God?
First Thessalonians 5:18 commands us to give thanks in all circumstances. When we give thanks in everything, we recognize that God is still on His throne in all things. On a rainy day, He still caused the sun to rise, though we cannot see it through the clouds. When our health has failed, we can trust we will one day be made whole. Our perspective on earth is limited, so we often see our circumstances through our narrow point of view.
When we give thanks to God, we recognize how big He is. We honor what He is doing and what He will do in our lives. Our thanksgiving serves as a witness to others. It is often when we are thankful in scarcity when others notice our joy. Our adoption of a lifestyle of gratitude leads us to become less anxious because we begin to recognize how much our God provides.
What is a way that you can implement thanksgiving into your lifestyle? God deserve our gratefulness in all things.
Father God, thank You for how You always know what is best for me. Thank You for Your guidance. Thank You for Your wisdom. Help me understand that no matter what happens in my life, I will always have something to be thankful for. Thank You for Jesus, Your most precious gift. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
