Love God Greatly: Fear & Anxiety – Day 3

‘Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.’ Proverbs 29:25(NLT)

‘“Listen to me, you who know right from wrong, you who cherish my law in your hearts. Do not be afraid of people’s scorn, nor fear their insults.’ Isaiah 51:7(NLT)

Living a life free of anxiety requires us to release ourselves of fearing the response of others. Scripture reminds us not to fear the hatred of others, but rather to trust in the Lord. Before Jesus bore the cross, He told His disciples they would face persecution for following Him. Even in the certainty of persecution and difficulty, Jesus commanded them not to lose heart.

The prophet Isaiah offers words of hope that we as believers can carry with us today (Isaiah 51:7-8). We should have the courage to stand firm in our faith regardless of how others respond. The Lord is our salvation and He will be with us forever.

In what area of your life are you trying to please people rather than God? It is easier to move with the crowd than to push against the current trend and stand for what is right. What gives us comfort in the journey is knowing we can trust in the Lord for safety? Where do you feel God wants you to stand out of the crowd for Him?

Father God, thank You for loving us. I praise You for Your holiness. Lord, increase my faith as I trust in Your plan for my life instead of looking to others to fill me. Show me the areas I need to focus more on You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
