‘We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ. ‘ 2 Corinthians 10:3-5(NLT)
‘Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.’ Romans 12:2(NLT)
Fear is a product of our world. Fear first comes on the scene in Genesis 3 after Adam and Eve disobeyed God. Adam and Eve hid from God because they were afraid. We do the same thing. We allow our fear to control our thoughts, emotions, and actions.
But we can overcome our fearful thoughts. By remembering and reciting truth we renew our minds and make them obey Christ. We renew our minds (like Paul talked about in his letter to the Romans) we re-train ourselves not to give in to fear. We create new habits and new thought paths each time we choose to believe what is true rather than our fear.
How often do you take time to allow the Lord to spiritually replenish you and allow your mind to rest? Oftentimes, we go to Scripture to learn or draw closer to God. Scripture has the power to transform and renew our minds, training us to focus on truth instead of fear.
Father God, thank You for the wisdom of Your Word. I praise You for the truth that is revealed in Christ. I pray that You will give me the courage to see the difference between truth and lies in my thoughts. Amen.
