‘“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God#6:33 Some manuscripts do not include of God. above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.’ Matthew 6:31-33 (NLT)
Be careful about worldly concerns, sorrow, and discontentment. Do not treasure earthly things so much that you let them upset you. Instead, learn to cast your cares on God.
You will find less peace in any suffering that comes about through such a worldly, sinful means. It is much safer to be distracted by cares for heaven than by cares for this world.
“Don’t worry and ask yourselves, “will we have anything to eat? Will we have anything to drink? Will we have any clothes to wear?” Only people who don’t know God are always worrying about such things. Your Father in heaven knows you need all of these. But more than anything else, put God’s work first and do what He wants. Then the other things will be yours as well” -Matthew 6:31-33
Take a moment today to re-center yourself in the understanding that Jesus is the One who sustains us through our suffering & circumstances. Take a moment to pray before Him and thank Him for being the One who hold us together, even when we can’t.
- What can you thank Jesus for today
- How has Jesus carried you through your recent circumstances?
- How will you place a little more trust in Jesus today than you have given Him yesterday?
